Join our email list

We have an email list used to keep members in touch with what's going on in Cardiff Outdoor Group - all on-line members are very welcome to join. You must be a member of Cardiff Outdoor Group to gain access from this list.

The list will

• allow you to receive changes to the programme after it has been published, some very shortly before the relevant event;
• reminders about events;
• other, non-COG events, likely to be of interest to members.

It will not

• be used to publish your email address. This will be kept hidden and only accessible to the membership secretary, the list moderator and other committee members needing the information to organise events;
• lead to you getting SPAM or increased SPAM;
• lead to you getting large numbers of emails irrelevant to COG - if you think this is happening, please email us.

Joining the list, changing your email address or leaving the list couldn't be easier - just send an email to the membership secretary below with your instructions. You will then be sent an automated acknowledgement, which you must reply to - and further information from the list management system. Do not be concerned about the instructions in the return email - it will give you two options to confirm your membership of the email list - the easier is just to reply to the email without doing anything else. This will not cause any harm to your system or expose you to SPAM.

To change your email address, you must remove yourself using the old email and rejoin using your new email address. If you have any difficulty with this, contact the list administrator.

These may change from time to time.

Guidelines for what emails are sent to Cardiff Outdoor Group

• All messages giving information about changes to an advertised event are sent
• All messages adding a new event to the programme are sent
• All messages reminding members about forthcoming events are sent.
• Messages advising members of events, not on our programme, but likely to be of interest to COG members are sent provided that such events don't clash with programme events in a way that is likely to attract people away from the COG event.
• Political or lobbying messages are not normally sent, except where this is promoting something of interest to Cardiff Outdoor Group and its members, the countryside, or walking and related activities. Messages promoting other "good causes", worthwhile though they may be, will not be sent.
• Small ads will only be sent if they they are strictly related to COG activities, eg walking equipment and provided the number of these remains low.

The purpose of these restrictions is to protect organised events and to prevent members from receiving what they may feel are unsolicited emails. If you'd like to send an email, but are in doubt as to its validity, email the list co-ordinator.
